Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. has no plan to raise the quarantine status of Iloilo despite the continued spike in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in the province.
The province will remain under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ), the least restrictive quarantine level, for the whole month of June, according to Defensor.
“May advise na kita nga MGCQ sa gihapon ang classification sang probinsya, but we are waiting for the official resolution sang IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force),” the governor said.
The IATF is expected to release the resolution today, May 31.
Defensor noted that the healthcare utilization rate in the province is at “moderate” level.
“Wala paman kita problema sa aton district hospitals diri unlike sa Iloilo City nga buta na gid ang mga hospital,” he said.
“We have made adjustments within the parameters of the MGCQ classification kag suno man sa provision sang omnibus guidelines sang aton task force,” the governor added.
To contain the further spread of the coronavirus, the provincial government, Defensor said, will focus on implementing measures that limit the movement of people and keep them in their homes.
As of May 29, the province recorded 7,610 confirmed cases of COVID-19, of which 81 percent or 6,165 have recovered, 2.5 percent have died and 1,256 are considered active.
From January 1 to May 29, the province reported an average of 52 cases daily.IMT
