The province of Iloilo has so far vaccinated 18 percent of its 1.4 million target population, data from the Provincial Health Office (IPHO) showed.
Of the total number, 365,597 or 25 percent of the target population received their first dose while 267,946 or 18 percent were fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
The province targets to reach the herd immunity by the end of November this year.
Herd immunity is the indirect protection from an infectious disease that happens when a population is immune either through vaccination or immunity developed through previous infection.
Among those who got their second dose were health workers (40,479), senior citizens (48,571), persons with co-morbidities (53,231), economic frontliners (21-510), and indigents (364).
The town of Pototan posted the highest number of vaccinated individuals with 12,332, followed by Passi City with 11,514, and Miagao with 9,762.
Other towns with highest recorded vaccinated population are Lambunao (9,572), Oton (8,608), Dumangas (8,092), Tigbauan (8,116. ), Janiuay (7,868), Pavia (7,604), and Ajuy (7,424).
Meanwhile, Iloilo City has already fully vaccinated 71.24 percent or 238,779 of its target population.
About 96.17 percent or 322,349 of the city’s population received their first dose, 24.93 percent or 83,570 are still waiting their second dose.
As of Sept. 27, around 1.59 million persons in Western Visayas received their first dose while 1.18 million were fully vaccinated.IMT
