The first coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patient in the province of Iloilo has recovered from the disease.
The patient, a 65-year-old male from the town of Guimbal, was discharged from The Medical City Iloilo (TMCI) on Sunday, April 12.
Guimbal Vice Mayor Jennifer Garin-Colada said repeat tests conducted by the Department of Health (DOH) on samples taken from the patient yielded negative results.
In a previous report by IMT NEWS, the patient with underlying medical conditions was admitted to TMCI on March 16 after manifesting signs and symptoms of COVID-19.
The patient had no travel history but had exposure to relatives from Japan and Canada.
Guimbal recorded three positive cases of the disease. Its second patient, a 51-year-old female, was infected by the first patient, while the third patient died on March 31.
The province currently has 15 COVID-19 cases. The other patients are from Lambunao (6), Miagao (2), Barotac Nuevo (2), Pavia (2).
The total cases include four death. The three other fatalities are from Miagao, Lambunao and Barotac Nuevo.IMT
