The Iloilo Provincial Government has lifted the liquor ban throughout the province.

Provincial Administrator Atty. Suzette Mamon said the lifting of the liquor ban, based on the latest executive order (EO) issued by Governor Arthur Defensor Jr., takes effect today, July 1.

The ban on alcoholic drinks was implemented on May 26 as part of the measures to address the continued spike in COVID-19 cases.

EO No. 222, which extends the province’s modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) status, was released by the provincial government on Wednesday, June 30.

The EO, according to Mamon, also lifted the border restrictions within the province and the quarantine pass policy.

The province has the highest number of active COVID-19 cases in the whole Western Visayas region with 2,429, the latest Department of Health (DOH-6) bulletin showed.

Since the pandemic started in March last year, the province has recorded a total of 11,822 confirmed cases of the viral disease, including 10,709 recoveries and 293 deaths.IMT
