The province of Iloilo recorded the most number of deaths related to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Western Visayas.

Based on data from the Department Health (DOH-6), the province logged a total of 868 COVID-19 deaths as of Sunday, Oct. 17, 

Iloilo province was followed by Negros Occidental with 598 deaths; Iloilo City, 552; Bacolod City, 527; Capiz, 267; Aklan, 193; Antique, 184; and Guimaras, 83.

The COVID-19 death toll in the whole region stood at 3,272.

Since the start of the pandemic, Western Visayas registered 139,098 confirmed cases of the viral disease, including 122,650 recoveries and 13,144 active infections.

Of the total cases, 33,419 came from Iloilo province; 31, 434 from Negros Occidental; 22,164 from Bacolod City; 21,399 from Iloilo City; 12,565 from Aklan; 9,072 from Capiz; 5,964 from Antique; and 3,081 from Guimaras.

Negros Occidental accounted for the most number of active cases in the region at 5,135; followed by Iloilo province, 3,680; Bacolod City, 1,921; Iloilo City, 836; Capiz, 799; Antique, 338; Aklan, 222; and Guimaras, 213.IMT
