Harvesting 20 medals in the 2023 National New face of the Year Philippine Taekwondo Championships over the weekend at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Malate, Manila, Iloilo MVP Taekwondo Gym has proven to be one of the sources of remarkable jins in the country.

The Denmark Pinggol-mentored jins took home six gold, two silver and five bronze medals in Kyorugi while wining five gold, one silver and a bronze medals in Poomsae.

Considering to be the Home of Young Champions, Iloilo MVP clinched three gold medals in Kyorugi, thanks to Adenny Lourl Rivera (Girls Novice 2), Jin Saimon Saquilon (Boys Novice 1) and Joel Alexander Cana (Boys Novice 1).

In the toddler category, gold medalists were Kylie Ellise Olivares in Girls Novice 1 and Duncan Kyle Rivera in Boys Novice 1, and Kim Xian Jude Arceña in Cadet Boys Novice 1.

Capturing silver medals, Alleinna Nestley Gajasan in the Gradeschool Girls Novice 1 and Eujean Ivanka Castete in the Cadet Female Advance also took pride in the weekend matches.

Bronze medal winners were Khent Wharlie Donguila (Gradeschool Boys Novice 2), Cirila Johanne Sulatra (Gradeschool Girls Novice 1), Julia Hermosa Ilustre (Gradeschool Girls Novice 1) and Joannah Donguila (Cadet Female Novice 2).

In Poomsae, gold medalists were Adenny Lourl Rivera (Gradeschool Girls Novice 2), Jin Saimon Saquilon (Gradeschool Boys Novice 1), Rhyden Uri Figueroa (Gradeschool Boys Novice 1), Maczen Rea (Junior Female Novice 1) and Julia Hermosa Ilustre (Gradeschool Female Novice 1).

Lindsy Lorraine Degayo, meanwhile, settled for a silver medal finish in the Junior Female Advance, while Merial An Detablan ended with a bronze medal in the GS Toddler Girls Novice 1.

According to Pinggol, the jins were happy to win medals in the tournament, a great indication that all their training and hard work paid off.IMT Sports
