After a remarkable feat in the last year’s performances, taekwondo jins from Iloilo Mark V. Pinggol (MVP) Taekwondo Gym continued their domination after clinching 25 medals in the Dinagyang Invitational Taekwondo Championship at the Western Institute of Technology STS Gymnasium.
Trained by Denmark Pinggol, the team captured 17 gold, seven silver, and a bronze medals.
Showing the entire repertoire, Phil Caleb Regalado, Chris Bernie Damaolao, Eduardo Adenic III, Adrian Joseph Gajasan, Josiah Vonn Linga, Beatriz Santos, Elisha Miela Paradero, Andria Margaret Palabrica, Sheine Nicole de Asis, Josh Karl Macahilig, Red Dyron Lusaya, Mary Bernadette Algaria, Akimeh Demavivas, Anna Cordova, Marielle Faye Lagamio, Nina Pearl Acosta, and Anne Aquino bagged the gold medal.
Andrei Michael Ledesma, Johann Miguel Macanas, Dariel Andrei Talamor, Josef Marti Linga, Charee Marie Genecela, Jenella Ashley Tionko, and Alyanah Tionko settled for silver medal honors. Margarette Gem Obsequio, on the other hand, got the lone bronze.
The MVP team finished the one-day taekwondo event as the first runner-up behind the tied champions Nicole Taekwondo Gym of Janiuay and RJT Gym of Pototan.
“This year I’m looking forward to bring more pride to our region. We are trying to establish effective foundation program in our gym and by upgrading our training programs for advance jins to both Poomsae and Kyorugi and to encourage new jins as well to experience national level competitions,” Pinggol shared.
