True to its promise, Iloilo MVP Taekwondo Gym continues to dominate various online tournaments in the country and even overseas.

This, after three of their jins won three medals in the just-concluded 2020 Smart/MVPSF Online National Taekwondo CPJ Championship.

Ateneo de Iloilo standout Cyd Edryc Esmaña maintained his dominant performance after winning the silver medal in the cadet male blackbelt category.

It was a back-to-back feat for Esmaña as he also bagged silver in the 2nd Lents Taekwondo Worldwide Online Poomsae Open 2020 last week.

For Esmaña, he’s thankful to God that he was able to get the silver medal last CPJ 2020. But admitted there’s still a need for improvement. “I know I can with the help of my MVP coach Mark Pinggol. We’ll be back stronger and better. Thank you for all the prayers and support,” he added.

Justin Adrian Apura and Glaiza Fae Cordero also notched bronze medals each in the grade school male blackbelt and elementary grade school blackbelt, respectively.

For Cyd’s mother, Cyril, she’s always proud of her son’s achievements. “I’m grateful to God for giving him such talent, determination and focus. With or without medal, we’re still proud of him, what’s important is the learning that goes with winnings. Thank you to the prayers and support from our families and friends,” she added.

Meanwhile, Julianna Martha Uy, Clyde Anthony Chua, Joshua Cachero, Niesha Kariz Pequierda and Jilyn Rose Yap belonged to the Top 10 finalist.

“For me, my performance was good, I gave my best, pero muna, despite sa trainings ko, I only made it to semifinals because may iban man nga athletes nga gatrain pagid harder, that’s why I’ll practice harder and never settle sa kung may ano ko subong. It has been my privilege magcompete against sa mga university athletes and mga world champions, and I’ll do my best gid para makabawi sa next competition,” said Cachero.

For Yap, she wasn’t expecting to be on top in this elite black belt competition because she’s been very busy lately with online classes and judging. “Even though I must admit that I lacked preparation for this competition, I still did my best during the taping, and that’s why I am proud of my result,” she added.IMT
