Iloilo MVP jins maintained their menacing forms in the sports as they garnered medals in the just-concluded 2nd Lents Taekwondo Worldwide Sports Online Open 2020.

Trained by head coach Denmark Pinggol, the players made the country and Ilonggo community proud after winning three silver medals in the world competition.

Cyd Edryc Esmaña from Ateneo de Iloilo showed how big his heart to play, following a silver medal finish in the Cadet Male Blackbelt category. His teammate, Julianna Martha Uy also pulled off a stunner after getting the silver medal in the Cadet Female Blackbelt.

For Esmaña, winning in the recent 2nd Lents Taekwondo Worldwide Sports Online Poomsae Open 2020 is not easy, competing with 19 caliber jins all over the world.

“I’m very happy and blessed to snatch the silver medal in the Cadet Male Blackbelts. It’s a dream come true for me because this is one of the elite taekwondo tournaments. Our efforts and sacrifices paid off. Thank you to our Good Lord for the skills and talent, All Glory belongs to Him. To my MVP family, thank you for all your prayers and support. To my coaches, especially MVP himself, Mark Pinggol, thank you for pushing me and believing in my capabilities. To my ever supportive parents and families, this is for you,” added Esmaña.

Leon, Iloilo native Joshua Cachero also paired with Venancio Taekwondo Academy’s Mikee Rose Regala and managed to edge Czech Republic, Russia, USA, and Iran for a silver medal finish in the blackbelt Mixed Pair over 17.

Glaiza Fae Cordero ranked fifth in the female blackbelt 11-under while Crisgel Castro notched 5th place in the competition participated in by hundreds of jins globally.

For Pinggol, he considered the victory as a great blessing for them and the jins.

“I feel so blessed with our outcome. We trained hard for this event just to make sure we can give our best for our beloved city, and of course for our country. Indeed, our hardwork truly paid off. We would like to dedicate this victory to all of our fellow Ilonggos,” he disclosed.IMT
