It was a good momentum for the Iloilo Mark V. Pinggol (MVP) jins as they stole the spotlight in the recent 2020 PTA Milo Online National Taekwondo CPJ Championships.
The Denmark Pinggol-mentored squad dominated both the Speed and Poomsae events, taking home 11 medals over the weekend.
Ateneo de Iloilo star Cyd Edryc Esmaña led the way after winning the gold medal in the kickpad kicking, cadet male category. Miagao native Angela Joy Marie Bermejo also garnered another gold medal in the kickpad kicking and a silver medal in the free kicking, junior female match.
“I’m very happy and thankful for another achievement. After Poomsae competition, I tried my luck in speed kicking, and with hard work and determination nothing is impossible, there’s still a kyorugi skills in me,” shared Esmaña.
For Bermejo who just returned to the competition, she thanked God and her grandmother for guiding her with these achievements.
“Thank you coaches, Sir Mark, Sir Diego and Sir Mel for making an effort and finding a way to set a training schedule for us even in today’s situation. I am so happy that I recovered my performance now from my recent competition. And that I will always remind myself to stay humble and determined. I also like to thank my parents and friends since they are still supporting and congratulating me,” Bermejo added.

Truly a hard paid off for we were able to maintain their good records for both Poomsae and Kyorugi events due to our consistent training and full support from their parents,” Pinggol shared.
