Fresh from winning the Kahilwayan Festival Taekwondo Championships in Santa Barbara, Iloilo, Iloilo MVP Taekwondo gym continued to harvest medals in the national arena.
The Denmark Pinggol-mentored jins put a dazzling show as they ruled the SMART MVP Sports Foundation National Age-Group Taekwondo Championships in Pasay City, November 19.
Known as one of the top producers of champion jins in the country, Iloilo MVP took home 12 gold, seven silver, and eight bronze medals, totalling to 27 awards.
Starting the assault, Adenny Lourl Rivera, Reyven Ken Decolongon, Mc Greg Alfonso, Calvin Avery Valencia, Cleo Alexandria Evangelista, Essence Estelle Sinoy, Fritzjerald Encanto, Elisha Miela Paradero, Sirhc Einreb Damaolao, Lindsy Lorraine Degayo, Jenella Ashley Tionko, Margarette Gem Obsequio, Charee Marie Genecela, Trisha Derren Cayanan, and Jeremi Panaquiton successfully cliched the gold medals after topping their respective games in Poomsae and Kyorugi.
Jilyn Yap, assistant coach of Iloilo MVP, said the results overwhelmed them, especially that some of the jins are new to the tournament.
“I am so proud sa performance nga ginpakita sang jins namon sa muni nga national competition. Nagbunga gid ang ila nga pangabudlay para makasungkit sang medals. May players kami nga kinapos lang gid gamay for a podium finish, but still proudest kami sa ila for giving their best. In Poomsae, 99 percent of our jins nagpuli sa Iloilo nga may dala medal. In Kyorugi naman, 8 out of 12 sa ila ang nakamedal,” she added.
Gabriel Dominic Capadosa, Shikyna Lunar, Phoebe Margaret Capadosa, Kylie Olivares, Sophia Marie Bautista, and George Fredrick Allan garnered the silver medals while Alyanah Julienne Tionko, Sophia Grace Go, Phil Caleb Regalado, Julianna Martha Uy, Andria Margaret Palabrica, Geon Ivan Dulaca, and Justin Adrian Apura secured the bronze medals.
