Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. has expressed optimism about Vice President Leni Robredo’s victory in this year’s presidential race.

“Vice President Leni Robredo will win as a matter of natural course,” Defensor said in a press conference.

According to the governor, it would be impossible for Robredo to withdraw her bid for the chief executive post.

“Indi mo na ya mapawithdraw Vice President Leni,” he said.

Last Sunday, April 17, Mayor Isko Moreno called on Robredo to back out.

“Yung number 2 (in surveys) should do and start the supreme sacrifice. Let Leni withdraw. Withdraw, Leni, if you love your country,” he said.

Robredo refused to engage with Moreno’s call for her withdrawal from the presidential race.

“I won’t react to it because this is not a fight between the two of us. This is a fight for our country because it will define the kind of politics that will prevail within the next six years,” she said.IMT
