Another hospital in Iloilo City will start conducting tests for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) next month.

The testing laboratory of QualiMed Hospital in Mandurriao district is set to open on July 9.

Mayor Jerry Treñas lauded the hospital for its efforts to put up its own lab.

“Ever since the start of this pandemic, I have been an advocate of mass testing and with that I have been in talks with all the hospitals here to build more testing centers,” he said.

Treñas believes that the new coronavirus will be contained “only thru mass testing.”

Iloilo City currently has one COVID-19 testing lab. The Western Visayas Medical Center Sub-National Laboratory has been operational since March this year.

Treñas is expecting that more testing labs will open in the city this year.

“COVID-19 is still around us. We are still under MGCQ and having more testing centers will ready us as we open to the new normal,” he said.IMT
