The national government extended Iloilo City’s general community quarantine (GCQ) status until January 31, 2021.
The retention of GCQ in the city was announced by President Rodrigo Duterte during his taped public address on Monday night, Dec. 28.
It aims prevent a spike in COVID cases after the holiday season.
Aside from Iloilo City, Metro Manila, Isabela, Santiago City, Batangas, Tacloban City, Lanao del Sur, Iligan City, Davao City, and Davao del Norte will also remain under GCQ.
Iloilo province will likewise keep its current quarantine status until the end of January next year.
The province and rest of Western Visayas will remain under modified GCQ, the lowest form of community quarantine enforced by the government.
As of Dec. 28, the city and province recorded 4,645 and 2,935 cases of COVID-19, respectively, data from the Department of Health (DOH-6) showed.
Of the total infections in the city, 4,367 have recovered and 132 have died.
In the province, the total recovery count stood at 2,670 while the death toll climbed to 103.IMT
