The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) has extended the implementation of modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) in Iloilo City until June 30, 2021.
The extension of the city’s MECQ status was announced by President Rodrigo Duterte in his pre-recorded public address aired on Monday night, June 14.
On Monday morning, Mayor Jerry Treñas said he would appeal to the IATF to downgrade the city’s status to general community quarantine (GCQ).
The city, as of June 14, has the highest number of active cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Western Visayas with 2,734.
Negros Occidental came in second with 2,379 active cases, followed by Iloilo province, 2,377; Bacolod City, 1,946; Aklan, 874; Capiz,772; Antique, 513; and Guimaras, 225.IMT
