Mayor Jerry P. Treñas on Monday, June 14, said he would appeal to the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) to downgrade Iloilo City’s status to general community quarantine (GCQ).
This morning, the city government’s COVID Team presented the city’s current situation and discussed their decisions to the business sector.
“The pandemic did not just affect the health of the Ilonggos but also our economy,” said Treñas.
The proposed easement of the quarantine status will allow non-essential status businesses to resume their operations.
“I have heard the cry of our small business owners, and I understand that people are starving, so despite our increasing cases, we will open establishments but continue to be strict with the compliance of the protocols. Non-compliance will be subject for closure,” said Treñas.
The city is currently under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) where only essential establishments are allowed to open.IMT
