The Iloilo City Government has secured a P1.750-billion loan from the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP).
During the flag raising ceremony on Monday, Dec. 14, Mayor Jerry Treñas said the state-run lender already approved the loan for various projects in the city.
Specifically, the loan will be spent for the renovation of public markets and the construction of a hospital and a seven-storey multi-purpose parking building.
The multi-purpose parking building will be constructed beside Ker and Co. heritage building situated behind City Hall.
“Mabutang lang kita sang taytay dira. Siguro sa fifth floor para mahapos nalang magtabok,” the mayor said.
In a previous interview, Treñas the first floor of the building “will host city offices so that it will be easier for the public to transact business.”
“The second to fifth floors will be designated as parking spaces. The area can accommodate 25 cars per floor or a total of 100 cars for four floors. We hope it will address parking needs of City Hall,” he added.
The mayor said he is expecting the groundbreaking ceremony for the new facility to take place before the end of 2020.Angelique Amira Jabian/IMT
