Elementary and secondary schools in Iloilo City are “ready” to hold face-to-face classes on Aug. 22, the opening of school year (SY) 2022-2023.

In a report by state-run Radyo Pilipinas-Iloilo, Dr. Novelyn Miraflor-Vilchez, Iloilo City Schools Division Superintendent, said health protocols will be strictly implemented to ensure that learners are protected from COVID-19.

As of Aug. 16, 87,542 learners in the city have enrolled for SY 2022-2023, according to the Department of Education (DepEd) official.

Of the number, 40,92 are kindergarten to Grade 6 learners; 26,141 are junior high school (Grade 11) students; and 20,489 are senior high school (Grade 12) students.

There are 65 public schools, 1 DOST-Philippine Science High School-Western Visayas campus, 3 state universities and colleges (SUCs), and 141 private schools that are under the Iloilo City Schools Division Office.IMT
