An 80-year-old male resident of Barangay Bo. Obrero, in Lapuz district, Iloilo City is the latest coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) fatality in Western Visayas.
This brought the total deaths due to the disease in the region to 12.
Western Visayas Patient No. 679 died while waiting for his test result for the disease. He is the second COVID-19 fatality in the city.
According to the Department of Health (DOH-6), the elderly patient inderwent RT-PCR testing on July 6 but died the following day.
The patient was immediately cremated.
The DOH-6 told the family members of the deceased patient to go on a 14-day quarantine.
The patient contracted COVID-19 through local transmission.IMT
