The Iloilo City Government has inaugurated its P40-million dialysis center in Barangay San Isidro, Jaro district.

Equipped with 14 machines, the dialysis center will provide free service to poor residents of the city. It can cater to 28 patients daily from Monday to Saturday.

“I know how it feels when one goes through a dialysis treatment. That is why we look for ways to help our indigent residents,” said Mayor Jerry P. Treñas, whose father underwent dialysis sessions for 18 months.

“We will make this dialysis center habitable and comfortable for our patients,” he added.

The center, which will be manned by one nephrologist, three physicians and 12 nurses, is expected to be operational starting next week.

According to Treñas, the city government will study the possibility of adopting a 24/7 operation to accommodate more patients needing dialysis treatment.

The free service can be availed by presenting their certificates of indigency verified by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), voter registration certificates and laboratory requirements.IMT
