The Iloilo City Government is keen on pushing for the implementation of the proposed land reclamation project.

Mayor Jerry P. Treñas, who has been elected to a second term, said he will prioritize the project to boost investments in the city.

The reclamation will expand the city’s land area that can be developed into a new business hub, he said.

“We don’t want to happen for Iloilo nga matabo nga daw Manila na bala, ti naubos na ila duta for development, nagkadto na sa Makati, sa Quezon City kag sa iban,” Treñas told reporters.

“If we continue to have more lands for development only then ma-sige sige pa ang aton development diri,” he stressed.

Treñas noted that the city has a total land area of around 7,000 hectares.

He is eyeing an additional 200 hectares of land.

“We will pursue this. Para sa akon if we do not have additional land ang development makadto na ni ya sa iban,” said Treñas.IMT
