Iloilo City is in need of additional medical personnel to cater to the rising number of dengue patients.
Mayor Jerry P. Treñas said they are looking for 10 doctors, 78 nurses and 12 medical technologists.
These additional medical personnel, according to Treñas, will receive their monthly salaries from the city government.
“Ginpaisip ko and para dira, ang expenses naton is more than a million a month for their salaries assuming nga makapangita kita,” he said.
The entire city was placed under a state of calamity last week due to the continuing increase in the number of dengue cases.
The declaration allows the city government to use its P34-million Quick Respond Fund (QRF), and P5-million Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE) fund from 2018.
The city government will purchase sprayers for misting, fogging machines, and chemicals to be given to all 68 public schools and 180 barangays.
The City Health Office recorded a total of 1,119 dengue cases, including nine deaths, from January 1 to July 20, 2019.
The figure was 462.3 percent higher compared to the same period last year.IMT
