Iloilo City posted the highest new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Western Visayas for three consecutive days last week.
The Department of Health (DOH-6) recorded 119 cases in the city on May 28.
On May 29 and May 30, the city logged 133 and 107 cases, respectively.
These additional infections brought the city’s active case count to 1,489, the second highest in the region after Negros Occiddntal (1,926).
As part of its efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19, the city government imposed liquor ban, border control, and closure of non-essential establishments.
“The situation is really difficult. Please stay at home for those over 65 years old and below 18 years old, and continue to observe the minimum health protocols,” said Trenas.
The city is currently under modified enhanced community qurantine (MECQ).IMT
