The Iloilo City Government is planning to extend financial assistance to local government units (LGUs) in the provinces of Capiz and Iloilo that were severely affected by floods brought by Tropical Depression Agaton.

In a press conference on Monday, April 18, Mayor Jerry Treñas said he is still waiting for the recommendation of the City Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Council (CDRRMC).

He is eyeing to source the financial assistance from the city’s calamity fund.

Agaton, the first storm to hit the country this year, destroyed houses, farms, and bridges, among others, in Western Visayas.

It also left 14 dead in the region, data from the Office of Civil Defense (OCD-6) showed.IMT
