The use of face shields will no longer be required in Iloilo City starting today, Nov. 5.
“Battling with this deadly virus and exhausting all efforts to curb surges in our cases, we learn not to allow ourselves to remain in the confines brought by this pandemic particularly the discomfort in wearing face shields and/or eye protectors,” said Mayor Jerry P. Treñas.
“The suspension of the mandatory use of face shields/eye protector or at the very least, the gradual exclusion of the mandatory wearing of the same in some public places provides a semblance of normalcy allowing our people to go about their endeavors more comfortably and efficiently,” he added.
According to Treñas, the City Council will amend the ordinance requiring the use of face shields to prevent coronavirus infection.
“Nag obra ako sulat sa aton City Council para nga ang ordinance i-amend ta na,” the mayor told local reporters on Thursday, Nov. 4.
Treñas said he will issue a notice to various establishments, and facilities, except for hospitals, informing them that wearing of face shields is no longer required.
“Gatreat sila sa COVID patients, waay kita ya gaobra protocols para sa hospital kay ila na ya protocols,” the explained.IMT
