Iloilo City Council’s Majority Floor Leader Romel Duron expressed satisfaction with the two-year performance of MORE Electric and Power Corporation (MORE Power) as the city’s new power distributor.
Duron led the consultative meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 10, relative to the proposed bill expanding MORE Power’s franchise coverage to Iloilo province.
In his presentation, MORE Power president Roel Castro said in less than two years, they were able to decrease the frequency an duration of outages in the city.
“May brownouts pa, indi gid na ya madula, pero shorter periods na. They promised to further improve their service,” said Duron.
MORE Power was also able to cut the number of power pilferers and illegal connections, thus increasing its consumers from 63,000 to more than 83,000.
Moreover, the city’s sole power distributor reduced its system loss from 28 percent to nine percent.
In terms of power rate, Duron said he himself felt the drastic reduction. “Daku gid nga relief para sa mga konsumidor.”
MORE Power was also able to increase the capacity of substations, investment on capital facilities, investment on human capital, and the engagement with the community.
“Madamu pa gid ang investors. Kon maayo ang services, natural maga-maayo man ang syudad kag daku man ang income para sa syudad,” said Duron.
Meanwhile, Castro assured that even when Congress allows them to expand their coverage, the services they provide to their consumers in the city will remain efficient.
“If ever we will be given a chance by Congress, definitely we will also expand our workforce and whatever investments we have already for Iloilo we will actually improve pa. You have the assurance po that there will be no disruption,” said Castro.IMT
