A warrant of arrest was served against Iloilo City Councilor Carlos “Jojo” Javellana for allegedly pilfering electricity.
In a report by radio station RMN-Iloilo, Police Major Val Ladublan of La Paz Police Station said the arrest warrant was served to Javellana and his wife, Punong Barangay Mary Katrina “Tracy” Javellana of Barangay Loboc, on Tuesday, September 28.
The couple posted P72,000 bail each for their temporary liberty.
Last February, MORE Power filed a complaint against the city councilor and his wife for violation of Republic Act 7832 or the Anti-Electricity and Electric Transmission Lines/Materials Pilferage Act of 1994.
The city’s sole power distributor claimed that their personnel caught the couple illegally tapping to the distribution line for the power supply of the water-refilling station they owned.
The accusation was denied by the two, saying that their business was no longer operational.
According to the city councilor, he had a sub-metering arrangement with his friend for their electricity supply when the water-refilling station was still open.IMT
