Cemeteries in Iloilo City will be open from October 30 to November 2 but only for individuals who have been inoculated against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The city government’s COVID-19 Team spokesperson, Jeck Conlu, said those who will visit their departed loved ones during the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day or “Undas” this year must bring their vaccination cards and valid IDs.

The city is currently under general community quarantine (GCQ) with heightened restrictions.

“Tungod GCQ na kita with heightened restrictions tagaan naton sang oportunidad nga makabisita ang aton mga kautoran,” said Conlu.

“Pwede lang maksulod ang fully vaccinated ukon ang nakabaton sang first dose ang pwede makasulod. May ara kita guidelines nga ipaguwa para diri,” he added.

However, the city’s 18 public and private cemeteries are only allowed to cater to 50 percent of their capacity.

The city government will also prohibit food, alcoholic drinks and gambling activities to prevent the visitors from staying long inside the cemetery.

Conlu said physical distancing and other minimum public health standards will be strictly implemented by compliance or inspection officers, and Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel, among others.IMT
