Iloilo Kisela Knights continued their dominant performances on board, winning all their two games in the ongoing Professional Chess Association of the Philippines (PCAP) Season 2.
In the first match, Iloilo defeated Zamboanga, 13.5-7.5, before they hammered Tacloban, 17.5-3.5. With two wins, the Leo Sotaridona-owned professional chess team cruised to a 10-1 win-loss card, topping the Southern Division.
“NM Cesar Mariano played well in Board 1. Lahat nag contribute for a decisive win for both matches,” shared coach Hubert Canto.
The Iloilo-based team will face Laguna and Isabela on Saturday, Feb. 12. They will try to defend its rank 1 standing in the Southern side.
Meanwhile, Negros Kingsmen got back-to-back victories with strong wins against Tacloban Vikings (19-2) and against Ventura Palawan-Albay Queens’ Gambit (15-6). The victory gave them a solid 8-3 scorecard in the Southern Division.
Starting this Saturday, the Negrenses will be on a “road trip” as they face the Northern teams Mindoro and Manila.IMT Sports
