Young dribblers from Hua Siong College of Iloilo (HSCI) delivered the killer blows down the stretch as they captured two titles in a separate basketball tournaments.

Making an extra effort on the glass, the Red Phoenix successfully retained their Iloilo Schools Athletic Association (ISSA) Meet secondary boys’ basketball title after surviving archrival St. Robert’s International Academy (SRIA) Panda Rockets in Game 3 overtime, 85-78 at the Western Institute Technology (WIT) covered gym, Oct. 30.

Reneil Gamboa paced the four-peat champions after contributing 18 points in the game. Dave Bagatnan, Cedrick Manzano and Julian Maverick Puerto also chipped in 12 baskets, separately.

The Vincent Conlu-mentored cagers played like a well-oiled machine in the extra period after a 68-all fourth quarter end. It was the fourth straight victory for the Red Phoenix and they defeated SRIA twice.

The Panda Rockets made series of shots in the overtime period, through explosive baskets from Gwyn Miles Pendon who tallied 26 points. Oscar Roy Jacinto added 21 points, while Louie Jay Villaroza was limited to 10 points.

It was a double celebration for Hua Siong as they also bagged the title in the Asialink 3×3 Basketball League U-15.

With 14 competing squads, Hua Siong pounded OJNA Rebels in a scintillating finals, 15-12 in Zarraga covered gym.IMT
