The observance of Holy Week or Semana Santa in the city and province of Iloilo this year was generally peaceful and orderly, according to the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) local offices.
Police Colonel Joeresty Coronica, Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) director, said there was no major incident recorded during the week-long religious event.
ICPO deployed personnel in transportation hubs, terminals, and places of worship, among others, from April 2 to 8 to ensure public safety.
Coronica said the support and cooperation of residents contributed greatly to maintain peace and order in the city.
In the province, police visibilty was intensified from Palm Sunday (April 2) to Easter Sunday (April 9)
to ensure the peaceful observance of Holy Week
Police Major Rolando Araño, Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) spokesperson, said they increased foot and mobile patrols and put up police assistance desks for immediate response to any eventualities.IMT
