The number of crime incidents in Iloilo City slightly increased, data from the Police Regional Office (PRO-6) showed.

From January to October this year, the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) recorded 694 index crimes.

The figure was higher by 3.27 percent compared to 672 crimes in the same period a year ago.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) said index crime are “crimes against persons such as murder, homicide, rape, and physical injury; and crimes against property such as theft, robbery, and carnapping.”

The city posted the highest number compared to other areas in Western Visayas.

It was followed by Negros Occidental (681 crimes), Iloilo province (647), Capiz (304), Bacolod City (298), Aklan (264), Antique (173), and Guimaras (139).

All in all, the region had 3, 222 index crimes in the first 10 months of the year, lower by 20.4 percent compared to 2018’s 4,049

Brig. Gen. Rene Pamuspusan, PRO-6 director, attributed the decrease to intensive operations implemented by their police units.

The operations include those focusing on regular law enforcement activities, police visibility, and information operations.

On the other hand special complex crimes in the region went up by 87 percent to 15 this year from eight last year.IMT
