A resident of Barangay New Poblacion in Buenavista, Guimaras is among the four Filipinos killed after two powerful explosions rocked the main port in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon on Aug. 4.

Identified as Milagros Sumaculob, the 67-year-old victim worked as a household service worker. She was supposed to return to the province in December this year and stay home for good.

In a statement, the provincial government said the victim died while being treated at the American University Hospital.

The family in Guimaras was informed by the Philippine Embassy in Lebanon about the victim’s death.

The body of Sumaculob is expected to arrive in the country within this month.

Governor Samuel Gumarin assured the family of “all the needed coordination and assistance in this heartbreaking situation.”

“The provincial government will be right behind the bereaved family of Milagros Sumaculob from New Poblacion, Buenavista, all throughout the process up until her body will be transported back home,” he said.IMT
