Following her sterling performance in the just-concluded University Athletics Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 84 Women’s Volleyball, Guimaras volleybelle Camille Lamina assured to continue playing for National University (NU).

The native of Buenavista, Guimaras was hailed hailed Best Setter in the recently-concluded UAAP Season 84.

“I am just a normal person nga ga handum nga mag hampang sa UAAP volleyball and now, I didn’t not just play but became the best setter of the season.”

The 20-year-old setter said she joined the team because it has a good sports system and program. She shared she will focus more on her team to build more relationship while inside the court and to improve her play for the next season.

“I look forward nga may training naman kami with different players sa different school. And mag focus kami liwat samon nga sarili/ team para bal an namon kung ano pa dapat i-improve as a team. To the aspiring athletes dira ang mahambal ko lang sa inyo is to always discipline yourself and don’t give up on your dreams,” she added.

The former standout of Grace Baptist Academy in Buenavista, Guimaras also joined the Nazareth School of National University Lady Bullpups squad and became a four-time University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) juniors champion and two-time UAAP best setter.

“Nag join ako sa NU kay bal an ko nga may ara sila sang nami nga system and program. And especially naaalagaan ang mga players kag madamo nga benefits like free food, tuition, and yung dormitory,” she shared.

Lamina also starred in various international arenas. In fact, she represented the country in the 2019 Association of Southeast Asian Nations School Games girls volleyball event as part of the Lady Bullpups team, where they won a silver medal.

“I chose volleyball kay sang bata ko sa elementary school namon may mga gahampang nga highschool students, gin try ko man maghampang tapos ato tuloy tuloy na gid ya. Tapos lately na realize ko nga makabulig gid ni samon sang family ko,” she added.

Despite her impressive performance as a setter, Lamina admitted that she’s really playing the spiker position, but the coaches of NU saw that she can be successful as a setter so, they converted her.

“As a person and as an athlete, NU helps me build my confidence off and on the court. And naka help sila sakon up until now that’s why ari ko gahampang UAAP volleyball. Also nakabulig siya sakon nga hindi mag huya huya sa mga tawo,” she narrated.IMT Sports
