The ruling political group of former Guimaras Rep. JC Rahman Nava in the island province has bared their almost complete and probable municipal line up for the 2022 elections.
Guimaras is composed of five towns – Jordan, Buenavista, San Lorenzo, Sibunag, and Nueva Valencia.
For Buenavista, outgoing Governor Samuel Gumarin’s wife Dr. Cecille Gumarin who is the town’s incumbent vice mayor will be the probable bet of the group for the mayoralty race. “Waay pa na finalize but logically everything leads to that,” said Nava.
Nava said that incumbent and three-termer Mayor Eugene Reyes has been offered by the group to run for Board Member but there was no acceptance from him so far. “We have some slots sa pagkaBoard Member so iya na call ni Mayor Eugene if willing sya to fill in the slot. We always invited him nga kon gusto ya, ara ang isa ka slot for Board Member.”
For San Lorenzo town, there will be no changes as incumbent Mayor Ninfa Gajo has still one term left. The same is true with Jordan town with its incumbent Mayor Ruben B. Corpuz. Outgoing Board Member David Gano will run for vice mayor of Jordan.
Meanwhile, the group’s consensus for Nueva Valencia is to have Vice Mayor Paul Vincent Dela Cruz as mayoral candidate while outgoing Mayor Emmanuel D. Galila is offered a slot for Board Member.
For Sibunag, on the other hand, incumbent Mayor Annabelle V. Samañiego is seeking for re-election.IMT
