Despite its downgraded alert level status, the island province of Guimaras decided to retain its policy restricting the movement of individuals who are not fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Based on the latest executive order signed by Governor Samuel Gumarin, only fully vaccinated residents and visitors will be allowed to enter and exit the province’s borders.
“Ginpakamaayo sang gobyerno probinsyal nga i-retain anay ang polisiya bangud may mga active cases pa kami kag ginalantaw pa ang dalagan sang amon nga COVID-19 cases,” Vice Governor John Edward Gando said in an interview on IMT Conversations.
Exempted from the policy are those who will access health services, obtain essential goods and services, and travel for meritorious reasons.
Commercial establishments, government offices, and indoor venues in the province also implement “no vaccination, no entry” policy.
According to Gando, the policy, in accordance with the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) guidelines, has been effective in controlling the spread of the deadly coronavirus.
Meanwhile, unvaccinated overseas Filipino workers and returning residents from outside Western Visayas “must present recent negative RT-PRC test results.”
“Magsiling kita recent dapat indi magnubo sa tatlo ka adlaw nag-gwa ang results. Kon may pakita sila sini, batunon ta gid sila,” Gado explained.
From Alert Level 2, the IATF de-escalated the provinces status to Alert Level 1, the lowest COVID-19 alert level.
Based on the March 3 bulletin released by the Department of Health (DOH-6), Guimaras has 91 active COVID-cases, the lowest I nth whole Western Visayas region.IMT
