Following the success of the 2023 Milo Champion’s League Guimaras, local organizers assured of more competitive basketball tournaments in the island province.
According to League Commissioner Dr. Richard Gabayoyo, the finale saw a huge crowd attending the event at the Lawi Gym in Jordan, Guimaras.
During the finals, Santa Teresa Stryper got the championship title after beating Buluangan Hotshots in the 12-under category. Shooting Champs, on the other hand, settled for the second runner-up feat. Junwyn Temblador, Renzel James Bermejo, Aldrin Galin, Stephen Suarez II, and Hyden Paulo Diamante were named Mythical Five.
Showing the entire repertoire, Eastern Wave easily hammered Archegos to win the 18-U category. Falcons ranked second runner-up with EJ Secorata, Paul Mejia, Justin Infante, Alfred Gustilo, and Renzo Hinojales named as the five best players.
After a hurting loss, Archegos took revenge in the 25-U category after taking home the gold medals at the expense of PCBA Dragons and the NV Growling Leopards. Mythical five winners included Roberto Parrenas, Roland Lamina, Justine Villaruel, John Lloyd Selana, and Carl Demmie Gamuyao.
The Sportsmanship award was given to Parrenas for the 25-U category, Jojie Mark Depamallo in the 18-U, and Temblador in the 12-U.
According to Gabayoyo, the Milo Champion’s League was a very sound and successful event having 17 teams all over the Province of Guimaras.
“Despite the distance that players and coaches have to travel, Guimarasnons have shown positive acceptance of the program. I am looking forward that this event will become an annual event in the Province. I am also happy for the support of Lawi Barangay officials, Players’ Center, SBP- Guimaras, Municipal Government of Nueva Valencia and media partners,” he said.
“More sporting events in the province supported by Milo and other governmental and non-governmental organizations for this will enable us to produce quality and highly competitive basketball players,” Gabayoyo added.IMT Sports
