The province of Guimaras has recorded its first indigenous or local case of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The patient, based on the COVID-19 Case Bulletin issued by the Department of Health (DOH-6) on Tuesday, July 28, is a 22-year-old male from the town of Buenavista.
Dr. Glen Alonsabe, DOH-6 spokesperson, said the patient (Western Visayas 1155), who manifested symptoms of the dreaded disease, is currently admitted in St. Paul’s Hospital Iloilo.
The coronavirus-positive man works as a service crew in Iloilo City.
“Ulihi sya nga nakapauli sa Guimaras sang July 15 and 16,” Alonsabe said.
Contact tracing is now ongoing to identify those who had close contact with the infected patient.IMT
