The Don Catalino Gallego Nava Provincial Hospital in Guimaras has partially closed its emergency room and pediatric ward for disinfection.

Dr. Shiela Gumabang, chief of the hospital, said they imposed the partial closure after a one-year-old child, who was admitted to their facility on Aug. 8, tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The infected infant, diagnosed with respiratory tract infection, was referred to a hospital in Iloilo City on Aug. 10.

Gumbang said the patient underwent swab testing on Aug. 12.

The provincial hospital continues to caters to emergency cases and there are still patients confined in the facility, according to Gumbang.

As of Aug. 18, Guimaras recorded 31 local cases of COVID-19, including one recoveries.IMT
