Two provinces in the Western Visayas region have been cleared of illegal drugs, according to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA-6).

All barangays in Guimaras (98) and Aklan (327) are tagged as drug-cleared under the government’s Barangay Drug Clearing Program (BDCP)

Drug-cleared barangays are those that are no longer affected by illegal drugs based on the vetting and confirmation made by theRegional Oversight Committee (ROC) on BDCP.

In Antique, 99.66% of the 590 barangays are now drug-cleared while 99.66% of the 1,721 barangays in Iloilo province are considered drug-cleared.

Capiz has the fifth-highest number of drug-cleared barangays at 91.54%, followed by Negros Occidental, 70.05%; Iloilo City, 52.22%; and Bacolod City, 22.95%.

Overall, 90.25 percent of the 4,051 barangays in Western Visayas are cleared of illegal drugs as of June this year.IMT
