Panay Energy Development Corporation (PEDC) and Panay Power Corporation (PPC) emerged as the 2021 top tax payers in Iloilo City.
The two subsidiaries of Global Business Power Corporation (GBP) were recognized during the Mayor’s Dinner on Thursday, Aug. 25, at the Iloilo Convention Center in celebration of Iloilo City’s 85th Charter Day anniversary.
PEDC was the No. 1 corporate real property tax (RPT) payer. It owns and operates 164-megawatt (MW) and 150-MW clean coal-fired plants in La Paz district.
PPC, which owns and operates 75-MW and 20-MW plant facilities also in La Paz, ranked fourth.
Meanwhile, Enrique Razon Jr.-owned MORE Electric and Power Corp. (MORE Power) landed on the eighth spot.
Other top corporate tax payers were Megaworld Corporation (2), SM Prime Holdings, Inc. (3), Heva Management Dev’t Corporation (5), Philippine Foremost Milling Corporation (6), Robinsons Land Corporation (7), Avon River Power Holdings (9), and Travellers International Hotel Group, Inc. (10).
On the other hand, the top individual taxpayers were SPS. Romeo Go and Jill Go; SPS. Lynn S. Kho and James Kho; SPS. Thedore M. Valderrama and Eudemia Wilmett Wuthrich Valderrama; SPS. Marcelino M. Florete, Jr, and Susan Florete; Vicky Yu Yap and SPS Winston Vincent Vu Yap and Genivie Servidad Yap; Wu Bing Huai; SPS. Emilio S. Diez and Dina S. Diez; Marilyn Uy Ong; Rpbertp U. Po; and SPS. Tomas Cheng Chua and Sonita Uy Cheng Chua.IMT
