Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas said he would reinstate Iñigo Garingalao as executive director of the Iloilo City Anti-Smoking Task Force (ICAST).

The reinstatement of Garingalao was announced by Treñas during the flag raising ceremony on July 22.

Treñas said he made the decision after he reviewed Garingalao’s performance as head of ICAST.

According to the mayor, Garingalao has done impressive efforts against smoking and did not engage in partisan political activities.

“People who have done a good job will have to return in their job,” Treñas said.

Meanwhile, Garingalao said he was grateful for his reinstatement.

He assured that ICAST will remain relentless in its anti-smoking campaign.

Iloilo City has an ordinance that bans smoking and vaping in public places and conveyances.

The ordinance also prohibits tobacco advertising, promotions and sponsorships in the city.

Garingalao was reassigned to the office of Councilor Eduardo Peñaredondo after submitting his courtesy resignation early this month.IMT
