The Iloilo City Government will sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Futran (Future of Transport) Philippines, Inc. for the conduct of a feasibility study on the proposed podcar transport system in the metropolis.
“With the MOU, makahatag kita sang mga data naton like the Comprehensive Land Use Plan, data on our population and other plans available sa aton so that they can come up with a plan para makabalik sila sa aton and kon doable,” said Mayor Jerry Treñas.
According to the mayor, the proposal presented by Futran “could revolutionize transportation in the city.”
“With the potential implementation of podcars, we can finally bid farewell to the frustrating traffic and usher in a new era of sustainable commuting,” he said.
Futran is the first company in the country that produces podcars — small low-capacity automated vehicles operating on a network of specially built guideways.
The mobility company has chosen Iloilo City as well as Mandaue City in Cebu as sites for the podcar transport system because of their fast-paced developments.
Futran Philippines entered the country in 2022. Its mother company, Futran Global, is in the business of green mobility, transport systems, electrical systems and container haulage systems.IMT
