The Iloilo City Government has urged freelance sex workers to secure “green cards.”
The Task Force on Moral and Values Formation (TFMVF) expects an increase in the number of sex workers in the city this Dinagyang week.
TFMVF head Nestor Canong said they have so far recorded 88 freelance sex workers, mostly women, who were granted “green cards.”
The cards are given to sex workers who underwent medical examinations and tested negative for any sexually transmitted disease.
The examinations are done at the Social Hygiene Clinic of the city government’s Health Office.
“Ang mga may ‘green cards’ are safe. Matinlo kag wala balatian,” said Canong.
“Naga-undergo man ini sila sa briefing para mapabalo sa ila ang mga dapat himuon para malikawan ang sakit,” he added.
The task force also promotes the use of condoms to prevent the spread of diseases.IMT
