More foreign tourists have visited Boracay Island in Malay, Aklan as leisure travel to the Western Visayas region resumes.
Based on data from the Municipal Tourism Office, the number of international visitors went up by 69 percent.
The figure reached 6,873 last month, higher compared to 4,268 in May; 4,737 in April; and 2,533 in March.
Koreans accounted for 1,902 of the foreign arrivals, followed by visitors from the United States (1,787), Australia (391), United Kingdom (362), Singapore (224), Canada (203), Germany (180), China (180), India (147), and Malaysia (122).
The foreign tourists in June contributed 3.5 percent of the total visitors in the world-class island resort, higher than 2.35 percent in May.
Meanwhile, Boracay accommodated 182,508 local visitors and 4,269 overseas Filipinos last month.
Visitors from Metro Manila made up most of the domestic tourists with 59,650 arrivals, followed by Western Visayas (38,528), and Calabarzon (33,656).IMT
