The first patient who contracted the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Western Visayas is also the region’s first “recovered” patient.

The Department of Health (DOH-6) said a 56-year-old man from Bacolod City was able to recover from the dreaded disease.

The man, who turned out to be negative after undergoing a second test, was already discharged from a hospital in the city.

The recovered patient had a history of travel to Manila and London. He returned to the city on Feb. 29.

However, his coronavirus-positive son remains confined at a hospital.

According to the DOH, the condition of the son, who had a travel history to the USA and Manila, is “improving.”

Yesterday, March. 30, the DOH-6 reported two new COVID-19 cases in Western Visayas, bringing the total number to 18.

Bacolod City and Iloilo province recorded the most number of COVID-19 cases in the region with 5 each, followed by Aklan and Iloilo City with 3 each, and Capiz and Aklan with 1 each. The provinces of Antique and Guimaras have zero confirmed case.IMT
