The first patient who tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Iloilo City is in “stable” condition, according to the Department of Health (DOH-6).

The 61-year-old woman is currently confined at The Medical City Iloilo (TMCI).

The DOH-6 received the test result on Tuesday, March 24, from the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine ( RITM) in Manila.

Dr. Mary Jane Juanico of the DOH-6 said the woman, who had a history of travel to Manila, started experiencing cough, fever, body aches, and diarrhea on March 8. She was brought to the hospital on March 16.

Juanico refused to divulge the barangay in city where the patient resides.

“Contact tracing and proper management are ongoing, ” she said.

There are now a total of four confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Western Visayas region. the other patients are in Bacolod City, Capiz, and Iloilo province.IMT
