Several families went homeless after a fire hit a residential area in Barangay Sambag, Jaro district, Iloilo City on New Year’s Day, Jan 1, 2020.

The fire burned down 15 houses in Zone 4, based on partial data from the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).

So far, the CSWDO recorded 24 families or 125 individuals affected by the fire.

According to the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMO), the fire broke out at around 9:36 a.m. and lasted for almost an hour.

The victims temporarily stay at the Sambag gym.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) is currently conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the fire as well as the cost of damage due to the fire.IMT
