More than a million pesos worth of illegal drugs were confiscated from a female fish broker during a buy-bust operation in the town of Lemery, Iloilo on Friday, Sept. 1.
The operation resulted in the arrest of Shiela Mae F. Yu, 34. She’s listed as regional target by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and a high-value individual (HVI).
Yu was arrested together with her brothers, Jose Maria, 26, and Bryan, 29, and her stepdaughter, Angel Kyth Alavaren, 21, all residents of the town.
Jose Maria is a provincial target and also an HVI, said Lemery Municpal Police Station (MPS) officer-in-charge Captain Jose Winston Biadog.
Authorities confiscated 200 grams of shabu or crystal meth with an estimated Dangerous Drugs Board value of P1.36 million.
According to Biadog, the suspects, who are currently detained at the Lemery MPS custodial facility, distributed drugs to towns in the Fifth District of the province.
They are facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The operation was conducted by the joint forces of operatives of, among others, the Provincial Intelligence Unit and the Provincial Drugs Enforcement Unit-Provincial Special Operations Group of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office as lead units together with the MPS of Carles and Lemery, and the second Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Company.IMT
