Former Iloilo City councilor Joshua Alim passed away early Saturday morning, Jan. 15. He was 57.
He succumbed to cardiac arrest while undergoing treatment for a kidney illness, according to his brother Judgie Caesar.
Alim, a lawyer by profession, was running for councilor in this year’s elections. In 2019, he failed in an atempt for a congressional post.
He served as member of the City Council for a total of 18 years. His landmark ordinances include the ban on smoking in public places, prohibition on the sale, installation, and use of modified mufflers in both public and private motor vehicles, and the setting of speed limits for motorists.
Before becoming a politicial, Alim was formerly a reporter and anchor of radio station Bombo Radyo-Iloilo.
He completed his bachelor’s degree in political science in 1985 and graduated from the law school of Central Philippine University (CPU) in 1990.
Alim earned his master’s degree in business administration from the International Academy of Management and Economics in 2002 and Master of Laws from San Beda College in 2017.IMT
